Have You Seen the Video?

I’ve never met Susan Boyle, and I’d bet neither have you!  But she taught me a lesson tonight and if you have half a heart and some common sense, she taught you a lesson too.

She’s a 47 year old unemployed gal who walked onto the “Britain Has Talent” stage and knocked it out of the park.

Have you ever been there?  Have you ever had a dream that no one knew about but you, and for some reason, you just never made it happen?   Chances are we all had dreams as kids, but somehow as we grew older the bright lights of those dreams began to fade.  At some point, we almost forgot them.   Maybe you made it.  Some people do make their dreams real.  Some don’t.  So what!   Never feel like a failure!  Never!

Here’s the good news!  NO ONE CAN BE A BETTER “YOU” THAN YOU!  IT DOESN’T MATTER IF OTHERS DON’T RECOGNIZE THE GREAT QUALITIES WITHIN YOU?  IT DOESN’T MATTER IF WHAT YOU ARE DOING DOESN’T MAKE IT TO SOME BIG STAGE.  THE QUESTION IS THIS…ARE YOU BEING THE BEST YOU THAT YOU CAN BE?  WHO CAN ANSWER THAT BUT YOU?

Are you giving yourself a chance to be who you are?  This woman waited 47 years to march out on the world stage and knock us all on our butts.

She touches your soul.  She touches something no one else can reach!  Few people have yet to watch this video without shedding a tear…how could you not?   She lives the lesson…DON’T JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER!!!

Have you ever been laughed at?  Have you ever been overlooked?  Has anyone ever dumped you because he/she thought you weren’t good enough?

Welcome to the lesson from Susan Boyle, someone who cared enough to believe in her talent and usher it onto the stage for all of us to witness.

Suspend for a moment your beliefs about what happens when you pass away.  Dare to dream a little!  Did you hear the applause throughout the video?

Imagine for a moment that the applause you hear comes from the angels…thousands of them…and it occurs when you walk on to that big stage after life and receive a thunderous, overwhelming, joyful standing ovation!   It’s not because you cured cancer.  It’s not because you scored the winning touchdown in the Super Bowl or because you hit the game tying field goal in the last seconds of the NCAA basketball championships….NO…the applause is for you being you.  That’s it!  That’s all.  You’re just as stunned as Susan Boyle was over her reception.  She’s been singing this way since the age of 12…but now…someone heard her.  We all heard her.  In a way, she sang for me and you!

The angels have heard you throughout your life.  Trust that one!

They have heard the song of your unnoticed, unremembered acts of kindness and love.   They have heard the song of your willingness to serve…that no one knows but you…when you just pitched in to help,  when you held the door for someone, or when you did something for free for which you would normally charge.

Your angels have heard the special moments of your heart, when you made eye contact with someone and you could feel the definite connection…it was for the times when you hugged someone in need, or gave a hand to someone who needed some assistance.

Susan Boyle had the courage to live her dream.  That’s what Susan Boyle represents to me and I hope that’s what she represents to you.

We have all been so overwhelmed with all the nonsense going on in Washington and other capitals around the world, that sometimes we think “we don’t have the power” it takes to change things.

Susan Boyle walks onto a stage greeting judges, who were probably curious about what was going to unfold. She lifted an audience and now the world with her courage, her confidence, her talent and especially her voice.

Look, all of you have talent of some kind.  You have the talent to be the good, kind loving nature within you.  A friend of mine used to say, “Kindness doesn’t cost a thing.”    No one can take away your kindness but you.

There are probably a million others who can run faster than I.

There are just as many who can probably write better than I.

I’m sure there are billions who can sing better than I.

There are those who will hit a baseball, golf ball, tennis ball and any other sport you want to name better than I.

BUT NO ONE CAN BE ME, BETTER THAN I CAN!  Do you know who wins when you are just being you?  You do!

Susan Boyle was just being Susan Boyle and look what happened.

And that’s the message of her song…before you were born you had a dream.   Here’s the good news… you are your dream.  Life cannot kill the dream.  You always have been your dream regardless of what you see on television or the movies.  You being the good, kind, non-judgmental you is your dream.   You are truly worthy of the search.

No one in the history of this world has experienced life exactly as you have.  That is your unique footprint on the world.  Don’t worry if you never get on national television our receive 15 million hits on YouTube…it really doesn’t matter.  What matters is that you know, see, understand and feel how incredible and unique you really are.

Susan Boyle went on stage for you tonight….without even knowing it!!!   And she hit it out of the park!!!
